My Ambitions and Progress

My name is Ashleigh-May and I have just started my production arts course at the start of 2020 in the new school year. Last year during 2019 I started my first year at college on a level 2 acting course as I couldn't do a level 3 course due to my GCSE grades I got from my English and Maths results. During my time doing the level 2 acting course, I didn't like it at all and didn't think the course was for me at all and didn't the course was for me, but during my time doing the level 2 course, Becca was one for my teachers, she had taught us the production side of theatre and acting (behind the scenes). Becca is a production arts teachers which includes lighting and sound. As the start of September 2020 came, I chose to move on from acting and do production arts with Becca, as I felt that I would enjoy it much more. 

Since I started the course I have learnt so much skills from my first lesson. During my first technical theatre lesson I learnt how to re-rig the lights and learnt how to highlight and use a magic sheet and also learnt how to use the lighting desk.

By the end of this course I would love to have a lot more skills ,as this year is my first year I am focusing more on lighting than sound which is also a really good skill to have.

After this course I would love to do an apprenticeship as I feel university wouldn't be a good place for me and what I would love to do after college.When I leave college and do an apprenticeship I would love to be a radio presenter as I have a big personality I think it would be the best job for me in the future. Also learning how to use a sound desk would be a very good skill to have in the industry I'm going towards when I leave college.

My goals after college and completing and passing my production arts course, is to do an apprenticeship and volunteering at a radio station to get a bit of  more experience, my main and final goal would to work on BBC Radio 1 Xtra and have my own radio show and be a radio DJ. I would also like to continue with lighting and hopefully light some shows, but my main focus is the radio presenting and volunteering.
